ABOUT
Welcome,
I’m Katharine.
As a birth doula, my role is to be that steady, grounding presence while you ride the waves of this big transition. There’s rarely anything truly black-and-white about birth or parenting, yet our culture is constantly labeling things as good/bad or safe/dangerous. I like to push past that oversimplified way of looking at things and get into the real, layered conversations.
When I sit with families, what always comes through is that your own values, history, and instincts carry so much more weight than you might realize. You already hold a deep well of wisdom—you might just need someone to help you trust it.
I see my clients as the experts of their own lives. My work is to listen deeply, provide compassionate and thoughtful care, and make sure the support you get is tailored to your needs and priorities—not anyone else’s checklist. With the right information and support, I believe you’ll always find your way forward.
what is dare alla luce?
Dare Alla Luce: Italian verb (transitive): to bring forth, to give birth to.
In Italian, the literal translation of “to give birth”— “Dare alla Luce”— is: “to give to the light”. An exquisite phrase to describe the beauty and wonder of childbirth. I credit a lovely Italian friend of mine who had her births at home to introducing me to the word “doula” and encouraging me to follow my calling to support pregnant women & families.
