Take away the incentives for too many c-sections “The state performs 11,000 unneeded caesarean births each year, in part because of insurance incentives. A measure passed by the last Legislature could help change the pattern.”

More C-sections, more problems… As the expensive surgery’s popularity rises, so have premature births, maternal deaths and neonatal intensive care admissions. Serious medical intervention has diminishing returns, a doctor notes.
